How the chore randomizer assigns jobs
The tool removes duplicates, uses the browser’s cryptographically secure random generator to shuffle each job, and distributes chores round-robin. Every chore is assigned once, and the difference between the largest and smallest assignment count is never more than one.
When random assignment works best
- Weekly household jobs that everyone is able to do safely
- Roommate cleaning rotations
- Classroom or team cleanup jobs
- Choosing who handles an occasional shared task
For children of different ages: random assignment does not measure suitability. Use the editable multiple-kids starter so a preschooler is not assigned an older child’s task.

Chore randomizer FAQ
Can the same chore be assigned twice?
No. Duplicate chores are removed before shuffling and each unique chore appears once in the result.
What if there are more people than chores?
Some people will receive no task in that round. The assignments remain random; review whether the result makes sense for your group.
Can I print the assignments?
Yes. After randomizing, use the Print assignments button.
